Restorative Contract

I. Background:

The Student engaged in behavior that caused harm to the Affected Parties, specifically (describe the harmful behavior and its impact on the Affected Parties).

II. Taking Responsibility: The Student acknowledges their responsibility for their actions and the harm caused. They recognize the need to make amends and restore relationships.

III. Understanding the Impact: The Student will listen to the Affected Parties experiences, feelings and concerns regarding the harmful behavior. The Student commits to understanding the impact of their actions.

IV. Apology: If acceptable to the affected parties, the Student will offer a sincere and meaningful apology to the Affected Parties, expressing their remorse and acknowledging the harm caused. The format of the apology will be decided by the Affected Parties.

V. Restitution: The Student agrees to take necessary actions to repair the harm caused. This may involve (specific activities or tasks the Student will undertake to restore the situation).

VI. Rebuilding Trust: The Student will engage in activities demonstrating their commitment to change and rebuilding trust. These activities may include (examples of actions that will rebuild trust such as attending counseling, participating in conflict resolution workshops or volunteering).

VII. Future Behavior: The Student acknowledges the importance of positive behavior and commits to avoiding similar harmful actions in the future. They will work towards personal growth and self-improvement.

VIII. Support: The School (and relevant Staff members) will support the Student throughout the process, offering guidance, counseling, and assistance as needed.

IX. Review and Evaluation: The Student, Affected Parties, and School Staff will meet regularly to review the progress made, evaluate the effectiveness of the restorative measures, and make adjustments if necessary.

X. Confidentiality: All parties in this contract agree to maintain the confidentiality of discussions, actions, and outcomes, respecting each other’s privacy.

XI. Termination: This contract will remain in effect until the School, the Student, and the Affected Parties agree that the harm has been repaired, relationships restored, and the need for the contract is no longer necessary.

By signing below, the Student, Affected Parties, and School Staff acknowledge their commitment to this Restorative Contract and their willingness to work together toward healing, growth, and positive change.
